Down south for a day.

Today I got to spend the day approving vehicle graphic application at the Petersburg Generating Station down in lovely Washinton, Indiana. There are only four words to describe this place: middle of stinkin’ nowhere. There’s not much here (especially not in Petersburg, where the station is really at). Across the street there’s a Wal-Mart, the gas station has a Quizno’s, and down the road there’s The Black Buggy, which is a quaint (although not terribly Amish) restaurant.

This is my first business trip, and it’s actually been pretty exciting. Not much has happened, but it’s somewhat thrilling to be out in the world on my own doing things that aren’t related to family or school. Sure I’ve been on road trips before, but I tended to view those as getting away rather than as a part of the normal world. Frankly there wasn’t a lot happening today besides approving about half of the vehicles here. I did get to work on the monogram Kristin and I are going to use for our wedding materials. Hope you like it. It’s weird being an adult though. Life’s gone pretty fast, and I’m finally, truly, leaving childhood behind me. Sure, my maturity level won’t ever breach 14 or so, but sadly my body and my responsibilities will continue to grow until they cease. Beth and I were sitting on a barricade in the sunshine at the station today, waiting for more vehicles to be finished, and we began talking about how quickly life goes. She told me that life gets better, and it gave me some small bit of relief to hear that she wouldn’t go back to her twenties over where she’s at now because things have gotten better as she’s gotten older. I hope that stays true for me as well. It seems like it will be. I’ve got a fiancee that I love, opportunity to serve and change the world, and a job in the exact field I want to be in. I’ve been fortunate to be able to work at an ad agency, more specifically the one I’m at, and I hope I can make all aspects of my life as fulfilling as my work is.
