My Most Hated Program

You know how Word used to be pretty easy to use like 10 years ago? Heck, it wasn’t even terrible about six years ago… The last time I actually used it was my sophomore year in college (’05) and I quit using it for two reasons.

1 | I pressed a random key combination trying to save my coffee pot from pouring on my CPU. Complete freak accident. Well, whatever I pressed changed the format of the page, and quite frankly I never found a way to turn it back.

2 | I got Pages for Mac. In about ten minutes I knew how to use it better than I knew how to use a program that had been required since about the fifth grade.

So, today I had to use it again, and I drew a little picture to describe how I felt about it:

i hate office!

Today Show Hates David!

…not really. But a lot of people do.

Many around the world, like me, turn the toob on in the mornings to catch parts of the Today Show in hopes of finding something between news and entertainment. For example, it was highly entertaining to hear about Matt Lauer picking a fight with a deer, but it wasn’t really news. Same goes for the “octo-mom” stuff. Frankly, I was hoping for an eight-tenticled woman rampaging in defense of her young, but it turns out it’s just some lady with another eight kids.

And it’s those stories that get me slightly frustrated. The octo-mom isn’t really news. There are laws to protect the kids, and frankly it’s none of our business. Likewise, it’s no news story that “David Goes to the Dentist” is absolutely hilarious. It seems however that many in the world lost their funnybone, according to the Today Show, and are now criticizing the parents for posting the video of Dazed David DeVore. It seems to me that anyone who’s had a kid in this state before knows that it’s humorous and it would take quite a stretch to imagine that his parents are taking advantage of a cute and humorous moment in time. That said, here’s the clip:

Where Twitter Can Go Wrong

My colleague Jeremy sent this SuperNews! video to me today, it’s pretty much hilarious. In other news: a comic to come soon.

Ever Wonder What My Desk Looks Like?

portrait over my desk
Just keep in mind that I’m part of a creative staff, and I have a long history of placing large, imposing images of myself on random walls. I was also put up to this, so it probably stands as the first time I was encouraged to something like this. Usually it’s the ol’ ask for forgiveness rather than permission routine, but getting fired over being… strange?… isn’t high on my list right now, so it came as a great relief when I was encouraged to go through with it. A few colleagues and I put it up mostly to annoy a certain art director who has no similar wall space which to defile, making him incredibly jealous. The best part was printing and getting it up there while he held a meeting no more than twenty feet away and still had no idea about it until he turned around. We have a courtyard in the middle of our office building, so the rest of the staff enjoyed a good laugh through the windows when we saw him get up and turn around to find my enormous face staring at him. There’s a video too. Hopefully that can find it’s way up here some time.
